Neighborhood fire victims react to alleged neglect from government agencies handling of their homeless children and adults who held an on street protest. They feel that their cities mayor and his policies have failed them. One resident female added her insight as to where the city went wrong. She also lays out an inequity in relief distribution from the Red Cross, and accuses WFMZ(local tv station) of not reporting the truth. An Allentown fire damaged nine row homes, displaced eight families and sent five firefighters to the hospital, officials said. Displaced residents said the three-alarm fire began at about noon in the kitchen of 854 N. Eighth St. as someone cooked sausages and it quickly spread to adjacent row homes. Fire officials have not confirmed the cause. Residents of homes at the fire's epicenter said they escaped without injury because of quick-thinking neighbors who warned them by pounding on their doors and windows. The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley set up a relief center at nearby Washington Elementary School where volunteers met with fire victims to determine their needs. The agency is assisting at least four displaced families which combined include nine adults and 15 children, agency spokeswoman Janice Osborne said. The fire displaced families who live in even-numbered homes from 848 to 862 N. Eighth St., she said.
