However, At the bottom left of the page was an avatar sized picture Of Michelle Obama mentioning that first lady was threatened by a DC Cop. My first impression was, "Damn, the first ladies life is threatened by a paid peace officer for the White House, and this is upstaged by Sandusky-Gate?" I also wondered if this front page mention would be so small and matter of fact if this would have happened to Nancy Reagan or Barbara Bush? Is it really too much to ask to place a story involving The Obama's safety? The same three to four reporters used to write three seperate FULL page stories never thought, "huh, maybe this story deserves a bigger impression".
Mind you, The Morning Call is the same paper, who didn't even BLOG about the hanging of President Barack Obama's effigy by famed Pastor Terry Jones a few weeks back. When I called to find out why this NOW viral story involving our president wasn't included in their blogosphere OR print they and WFMZ (local tv) told me that they only go by whats given on their newswire. My next question was, "Well how does a story involving Obama's effigy being hung in front church not make your or ANY newswire? Especially when said pastor was the same pastor who pushed for the burning of Quarans not too long ago, which was a story that went international)?
What's really amazing is that the Orlando Sentinel, the paper who actually ran the hanging effigy story, is owned by the same company as the Morning Call(Tribune-Chicago), at least at the time. My third question was,"How can the Orlando Sentinel run/print a story about President Obama, and you don't even tag or stream the article in your blogosphere? How is this possible if you are owned by the same people out of Chicago(Tribune)?
Is Local/Mainstream media willfully downplaying the threats and well being of our first Black President Obama and his first family? I would like to know what you think?
